Time’s Up President and CEO Lisa Borders Resigned After Son Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Lisa Borders Resigned After Son Accused

Lisa Borders stepped down as Time’s Up president and CEO after her son, Garry “Dijon” Bowden, Jr. was accused of sexual misconduct, according to published reports.

The L.A. Times reports that her son was accused of misconduct by a 31-year-old woman from Santa Monica, CA, who made the claims in a post on Facebook.

Bowden, whose many titles include “life coach” and photographer, reportedly touched the woman inappropriately during a “healing session.”

According to the Times, Bowden kissed the woman on the neck, touched her with his clothed, erect penis and made contact with her genitalia during the session.

A lawyer representing Bowden denied the allegations, saying the woman thanked Bowden multiples times after the session.

The lawyer also claimed the woman described the massage as “gentle and authentic and loving” in a text message sent to Bowden, which the lawyer reportedly showed to the newspaper.

Borders announced her resignation on Monday, Feb. 18. At the time she said she was resigning to deal with family issues. She was forced to elaborate further after she was implicated in the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax in Chicago.

Smollett, 36, was arrested and charged with faking a hate crime in Chicago, a felony in Illinois that carries a 1-3 year prison term.

Smollett and presidential candidate Kamala Harris (D-CA) were photographed protesting at a Time’s Up rally in California. The photo was circulated on social media, and there were rumors that Harris, who is a close friend of Illinois’s top attorney, Kim Foxx, used her influence with Foxx and the State Attorney’s office to show favoritism to Smollett.

Social media users also circulated a tweet that shows Foxx posing in a photo with Harris. In the tweet, Foxx thanked Harris for being her mentor.

Foxx recused herself from the investigation into Smollet’s alleged hate crime this week. Her recusal raised questions among the local media outlets in Chicago.

Borders was named the first president and CEO of Time’s Up, 10 months after the organization was created in 2018 to promote women’s rights after Harvey Weinstein and others were accused of sexual misconduct.

She previously served as Atlanta City Council President. She is a former president of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and a former Vice President of Global Community Affairs at The Coca-Cola Company. Borders also ran as an Atlanta mayoral candidate in 2009.
