Man Known as ‘Jackpot’ Arrested On Human Trafficking Charges In $1M Condo After He Lured Teen to Atlanta

Jackpot’ Arrested On Human Trafficking

Emmett Murphy, also known as “Jackpot” to his friends and associates, is in the Fulton County jail charged with human sex trafficking. Police say he lured a teenager to Atlanta under false pretenses, then ordered her to dance naked and turn tricks during Super Bowl LIII.

Murphy was arrested at his posh $1 million Midtown Atlanta condominium on Feb. 2, a day before Super Bowl Sunday.

According to a police report obtained by Channel 2‘s Michael Seiden, Murphy is facing several charges, including trafficking of persons for labor servitude and trafficking of persons for sexual servitude. The former charge is for forcing women to work for no pay.

Murphy was among 169 people arrested in a sex trafficking sting by the feds in the days leading up to the Super Bowl in Atlanta.

Sex trafficking peaked in Atlanta due to the Super Bowl bringing more people, money and crime to the area, FBI Special Agent Taylor Dervish told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to police, Murphy struck up a conversation with a 19-year-old woman from New Jersey on social media. After talking for about six months, the victim and Murphy met in person and he asked her repeatedly to travel to Atlanta to appear in a music video.

The victim said she gave in when he offered her $3,000.

The teen arrived in Atlanta at 5 p.m. on Feb. 2. She said as soon as she arrived at his swanky condo, Murphy immediately told her she’d be dancing with no clothes on at a local strip club. He allegedly told her she’d be giving him all her money.

When the teen started having second thoughts, another woman inside the luxury condo told her he would beat her if she didn’t comply with his demands.

Police executed a search warrant on the apartment and interviewed a woman inside who gave them additional information, according to Channel 2.

The woman told police about a “hierarchy of women in New Jersey who the suspect considers his wives.” She said the women in New Jersey have more freedom and all work in strip clubs.

The woman also said she accompanied Murphy and the teenager from New Jersey to Atlanta and that the victim did not fully understand she would be working as a stripper in Atlanta.

Seiden spoke exclusively to Murphy’s lawyer on Tuesday.

“He’s distraught, He’s shocked and he can’t believe that he’s been victimized this way by the judicial system,” said Mohammed Luwemba, Esq.

Luwemba called the allegations false and blameless.

“Why would they make up something like this? At this time, I cannot get into those details,” Luwemba told Seiden. “There’s some things that we found out in regards to what the motive might be behind this, but again, we can’t disclose that right now,” he added.

Jackpot remains in the Fulton County Jail without bond.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office is still conducting an investigation to determine whether to add additional charges. “We plan to make this determination within 30 days, the DA’s Office said in a statement.
