A hearing scheduled for Derion Vence on Monday was rescheduled after protesters disrupted the usual quiet atmosphere of the courthouse in Houston, Texas.
Vence, 26, was arrested Saturday and charged with tampering with a corpse, in connection with the disappearance of 4-year-old Maleah Davis.
Vence told police he was carjacked on Friday, May 3, by three Hispanic males who knocked him out and took Maleah.
Vence was due to be in a Houston courtroom on Monday, May 13. But the hearing was reset. Vence’s bond was originally set at $1 million during a bond hearing on Saturday, but his bond was reduced Monday to $45,000, according to ABC 13.

Maleah’s mother Brittany Bowens was waiting in the courtroom for her ex-fiancé, according to ABC 13. Bowens’ family members and relatives of Maleah’s biological dad, Craig Davis, were also in courtroom on Monday.
Protesters who had hoped to confront Vence now turned their attention to Bowens. Protesters shouted accusations at Bowens and asked why she didn’t protect her daughter.

“Justice for Maleah! Justice for Maleah!” the crowd chanted.
Bowens did not speak as she cowered being her advisor Quanell X, the leader of the New Black Panther Party in Houston.
As Bowens and Quanell stepped inside an elevator, someone yelled, “MURDERER!” and asked her to tell them where Maleah was.
They lowered his bond so someone can easily bail him out and do what’s gonna eventually happen to him in prison and I’m here for it. #MaleahDavis
